(Backgrounder info to pass on for editorial consideration):
...the ocean view outside the Civic Center is stunning, as are
the ocean views adorning the walls within.
Artisan
Don Doerfler has come a long way since showing his work at his
small studio Pyramid Arts on 101 Coast Highway in Leucadia.
You know, where everyone takes their kids because it's now where
the Sub Shop still stands.
This venue looks perfect for your on-site broadcast or print & online
coverage, and all predictions on October 10th for the artist reception
call for an affair that is, in Encinitan style, nothing less than
southwestern swell.
PS - Minutes away from the Civic Center, Don's fabulous home is
nothing less than an art museum itself, because along with his
own volumes of art, the walls are filled with such greats as Snow
White, Fantasia, Pinocchio, Bugs Bunny, and Elmer Fud. His mother,
still living in Encinitas, worked for Walt Disney as a cell painter
and color designer, his late grandmother was a professional artist,
and his late dad was an animator for Chuck Jones at Warner Brothers.

Third-Generation Encinitan Artist Slated for Solo Exhibit at Encinitas
Civic Art Gallery
Don Doerfler, Painter of Paradise Artist Exhibits October 1st-31st,
2007
Artist's reception with live music Wednesday, October 10th, 5pm
- 7pm
It's been a colorful adventure story for Don Doerfler, an artist
whose brilliant color schemes are ironically his long-standing
hallmark.
The minute you step into the Civic Art Gallery, his rich acrylic
and bright watercolor paintings boast wondrous reflections of thunderous
ocean surf, capturing the action of the surfers, the glory of sunsets,
fabulous collections of stunning flowers, outrageous tropical birds,
classic deco landmarks like the Miracle Dip stand at Del Mar Fair,
Hawaiian scenarios, and Margaritaville, all set in original designs.
As Doerfler
explains, "One creates when we are in the peak
of inspiration. Our surroundings here in North County are such
a true blessing. I take bits of little scenarios, a potpourri of
snapshots from so many sources amidst this virtual plethora of
visuals. Then I combine realism, fantasy, and imagination, AND..."
He sweeps his arm around the gallery walls filled with paintings.
Those who have followed Don's art and commercial work recognize
how well his training in design blends together with his deep-rooted
belief in balance. As many North County residents appreciate a
fellow surfer who worships the sea, Doerfler's commitment extends
to putting a significant portion of energy to serving others through
his deep faith and meditation at the Self Realization Fellowship.
His most demonstrable generosity at this year's exhibit is that
Don has agreed to share his exhibit space in support of Domestic
Violence Awareness Month with artist Kim Kurdelak, who will exhibit
original mixed media works of art designed to raise awareness about
domestic violence.
The reception features a live performance by acclaimed guitarist
